The local government of Buug Municipality, led by the esteemed Mayor Dionesia B. Lagas, is generously offering the space currently occupied by LGU's motorpool awaiting issuance of Sangguniang Bayan resolution to rise the proposed 3-storey building for the TESDA Provincial Training Center-Zamboanga Sibugay through Contract of Usufruct . This will be situated at Poblacion, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, this upcoming construction project marks an important milestone for the TESDA Provincial Training Center-Zamboanga Sibugay to provide skills training and produce skilled workers who will contribute to the progress in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, particularly in the Municipality of Buug.
This significant endeavor was made possible through the efforts of Mayor Lagas and PTC Administrator Ferdinand Melicor. We couldn't be more grateful for their dedication and commitment to enhancing and providing the facilities in this training center.
This building will pave the way for expanded courses or qualifications offered by these training institutions. The TESDA Provincial Training Center Zamboanga Sibugay is extremely grateful for the gesture from the local government of Buug Municipality that did not only demonstrates their commitment to education and skills development but also highlights the collaborative spirit within our community. Provincial Training Center - Zamboanga Sibugay conducted an ongoing skills training program for Masonry NC I under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) with the total of 25 beneficiaries. These trainees were provided with free training, training support funds, and free assessment and certifications, ensuring a holistic learning experience without financial burden. The training aimed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge in masonry, paving the way for better employment opportunities in the construction industry.
The training was conducted at the construction site of the Provincial Training Center - Zamboanga Sibugay Building, located in Poblacion, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay led by our experienced and dedicated trainer, Mr. Danny Boy Lagait.
The training was conducted through a training-cum-production constructing the PTC-Building for the trainees to gain hands-on experience in a practical setting, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of masonry techniques and practices.

A groundbreaking step toward transforming the workforce in Zamboanga Sibugay took place on January 15, 2025, as TESDA Provincial Director Adrian Ampong along with PTC Zamboanga Sibugay Administrator Ferdinand Melicor led negotiations with 2M Construction in Ipil for a possible partnership under the Dual Training System (DTS). This innovative program, established by the DTS Act of 1994, combines in-school education with in-plant training, giving students the chance to gain practical, hands-on experience while earning their credentials. Designed to boost employability, the DTS focuses on equipping graduates with the technical skills, critical thinking, and strong work ethic that employers demand.
For TESDA, this partnership is a major win, fostering public-private cooperation to create a skilled workforce ready to meet the needs of the booming construction industry. For students, it offers a clear path to career success, blending education with real-world experience that enhances their job readiness and marketability.
By bridging the gap between learning and employment, this collaboration promises to shape the future of both local industries and the next generation of workers.

A community-based training program on motorcycle wiring systems was successfully conducted on June 14, 2023 in Barangay San Jose, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay. The training aimed to empower local residents with the knowledge and skills necessary to troubleshoot and repair motorcycle wiring issues.
The training program was organized in collaboration with local authorities and community leaders. It was designed to cater to both beginners and individuals with prior mechanical knowledge, ensuring that participants of all skill levels could benefit from the session.
The training covered various aspects of motorcycle wiring systems, including electrical components, circuitry, and common wiring problems. The participants were provided with practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises to enhance their understanding and proficiency in diagnosing and fixing wiring issues.
Our experienced trainer facilitated the program, sharing his expertise and providing step-by-step guidance throughout the training. He focused on imparting essential knowledge related to safety precautions, proper use of tools, and effective troubleshooting techniques.

On June 14, 2023, a community-based training program on siomai making was successfully conducted in Barangay Talairan, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay. The training aimed to promote entrepreneurship and empower local residents with the skills needed to start their own siomai business.
It was designed to cater to individuals with varying levels of cooking experience, ensuring that participants could benefit from the session regardless of their background. During the training, participants were introduced to the art of making siomai, a popular Chinese dumpling dish. They learned about the different ingredients, proper food handling techniques, and the step-by-step process of creating delicious and presentable siomai.
Our experienced trainer led the program, sharing her expertise and providing hands-on demonstrations. She emphasized the importance of quality ingredients, proper food hygiene, and the art of flavor combinations. Participants had the opportunity to practice their siomai making skills under the guidance of the trainer, enabling them to gain confidence and refine their techniques.
Additionally, the training program highlighted essential aspects of starting a siomai business, such as cost calculation, pricing strategies, marketing, and customer service. This holistic approach aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to turn their siomai making skills into a viable business venture. The program not only provided them with a new income-generating skill but also fostered a sense of pride in promoting local cuisine.

Zamboanga Sibugay - The Provincial Technical College (PTC) in Zamboanga Sibugay has recently announced the approval of its Training for Work Scholarship Program for Masonry NC I. The program is aimed at providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become competent and certified masons, which is currently in high demand in the construction industry.
Enrollment for the program is currently ongoing, and interested applicants can register online through the PTC website https://www.ptcsibugay.online/program-and-services/enroll-online or visit PTC Zamboanga Sibugay Office located at Purok 1, Poblacion, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay (back of the New Fire Station). The scholarship program follows a "first come, first serve" basis, so interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to secure their slots.
The Masonry NC I scholarship program is open to all residents of Zamboanga Sibugay who are at least 18 years old. The program covers various topics, such as masonry tools and equipment, masonry materials, and basic masonry techniques.
Upon completion of the program, successful participants undergoing National Assessment will be awarded a National Certificate (NC) I, issued by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and signed by the Director General. This is an essential requirement for employment in the construction industry.

In celebration of the 2023 National Women's Month Celebration with the theme "We for Gender Equality & Inclusive Society," the PTC Zamboanga Sibugay, headed by Ferdinand L. Melicor, PTC Administrator, in collaboration with LGU Buug, headed by Hon. Mayor Dionesia B. Lagas, conducted a Community-Based Training Program. The program aimed to promote gender equality and inclusivity in society by providing free manicure, pedicure, and massage services to women.
The training program, held on March 28, 2023, at the Municipal Podium, Municipal Hall, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay, was attended by numerous women who availed of the free services provided by trained personnel. Participants registered at the registration booth and were given identification tags and schedules for their free services.
The program started with an orientation to explain the objectives and activities of the training program. Trained personnel provided free manicure and pedicure services to women, aiming to provide relaxation and promote healthy nails. Free massage services were also provided to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and improve blood circulation.
The program ended with a closing program, where participants were encouraged to continue taking care of their health and well-being.
The Community-Based Training Program conducted by PTC Zamboanga Sibugay and LGU Buug was an excellent initiative to promote gender equality and inclusivity in society. The program aimed to raise awareness of the importance of women's health and wellness and to encourage women to take care of their physical and mental well-being. In celebration of National Women's Month, the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office, 2nd Mobile Force Company, represented by PLCOL Gerardo Benjamin A. Avengosa, Force Commander, requested and received free manicure, pedicure, and haircut services from PTC Zamboanga Sibugay, represented by Presco P. Cañete Jr., AO IV, on March 15, 2023. The event was held in Sitio Datagan, Barangay Banker in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay and was specifically for the women of the community.
The theme for this year's National Women's Month Celebration is "We, for gender equality and inclusive society." The event aimed to recognize the contributions and achievements of women in society and promote gender equality and inclusivity.
The women of Sitio Datagan were thrilled to receive the free services provided by PTC Zamboanga Sibugay. They were given the opportunity to take a break from their daily routines and enjoy some much-needed pampering. The event also served as a way to promote the importance of self-care among women and to show appreciation for their hard work and contributions to society.
PLCOL Gerardo Benjamin A. Avengosa expressed his gratitude to PTC Zamboanga Sibugay for their generosity in celebrating National Women's Month with the women of Sitio Datagan. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of women in society and promoting gender equality.
Ferdinand L. Melicor, Administrator of PTC Zamboanga Sibugay, who provided the services, said that he was happy to support the celebration of National Women's Month by offering free manicure, pedicure, and haircut services. TESDA ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY, February 21, 2023 - TESDA Provincial Training Center (PTC) Zamboanga Sibugay, under the leadership of Ferdinand L. Melicor, PTC Administrator, recently conducted a Community-Based Skills Training with free manicure, pedicure, and massage services to unemployed and self-employed constituent of Zamboanga Sibugay. The event was made possible through the request of Mrs. Nelsie P. Lazo, Zamboanga Sibugay PHRMO/PESO Manager to PD Omarkhayyam I. Dalagan, Provincial Director of TESDA Zamboanga Sibugay.
The event was held on February 21, 2023 at Capitol Site, Atrium Hallway, Provincial Government Office, Ipil Heights, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay in connection with the 22nd Araw ng Zamboanga Sibugay JOBS FAIR and One-Stop-Shop Caravan and was open to all residents of the province. The free service aimed to promote wellness and relaxation, as well as provide an opportunity for individuals to pamper themselves and feel good.
The event was well-received by the community, with hundreds of people availing of the free services. The manicure and pedicure services were conducted by TESDA trained nail technicians, while the massage services were provided by TESDA trained therapists. All the services were performed using high-quality products and equipment, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of the clients.
Governor Ann K. Hofer, Provincial Governor, Province of Zamboanga Sibugay and the office of PHRMO/PESO team expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support from the community, and for the opportunity to provide a much-needed service. They also extended their appreciation to PD Omarkhayyam I. Dalagan and Administrator Ferdinand L. Melicor for their efforts in making the event possible.
